Journal: A new Dog Bowl.

A new Dog Bowl.

Today we have a new bowl that’s been made exclusively for us by Karen Williams at Adrift Pottery. We conceived this as a water bowl for dogs, but having seen it in the flesh it will also make a lovely, medium-sized serving bowl for humans.

Karen has her studio in Pembrokeshire and specializes in ‘a modern version of traditional slipware’ using a limited palette of raw iron, cobalt and copper oxide.

We’re happy to be working with Karen. We love her work. It feels so right for now; this sense of rightness is something that I can often feel in my bones and whether that’s just a reflection of my ever-evolving taste or a reflection of something wider, I can’t say. Anyway, it’s lovely and it’s here.

There is a thrill in building successful relationships with new makers. All three of us have an admiration for craftspeople that verges on fandom. And while we don’t particularly believe in creative group think, we do generally share much the same taste, which makes it easy for us to select who to work with. Hence, Karen William of Adrift.
