I have a sense that every home should have some vintage items on display; things that add to the layers, and in so doing connect the antiques to the modern stuff.

My father gave me his small collection of pond yachts from his childhood (in the 1920s and ‘30s). They were his favourite toys and key component in his life-long love of ships and boats.

This had a profound impact on me and I have collected them ever since. So, when an antique dealer friend offered me this perfect collection, I jumped at the chance to buy them. I can’t think of many things that are more British, more elegant, more iconically English than these and so they’re a perfect part of our first ever vintage collection.
