Glen Dye Tweed Cushion

Sale price£125.00

Glen Dye’s estate tweed was first designed by our family around 200 years ago, and with minor variations determined by natural dyes, has remained the pretty much the same ever since. Originally used for sport on the moors, all large Scottish estates had their own tweed, designed partly as camouflage to blend with the particular flora, light and landscape of the estate and partly as uniform for employees and employers alike; a badge of belonging and of honour.

Traditional requirements for this exceptional tweed have receded, but we are determined to give it new life; hence these simple, elegant, chic, last-forever cushions. They work brilliantly alongside our Welsh blankets, by the way.

Hard wearing traditional tweed woven by the 100 yards on the West Coast of Scotland.

“I really like the history of Scottish Estate tweeds; that they are specifically designed to blend in with an area’s flora, light and landscape and the fact that they were used in such egalitarian ways as uniform by everyone from Peers to ghillies. We’ve had 100 yards of this woven and now we want to use it as widely as we can”.
