Sarah and Caroline worked together with Llio James to design this large, hand-loomed, hand-woven, and hand-finished scarf. Each 100% British wool scarf takes Llio a day and a half to make, and she uses traditional weaving techniques in her studio in Cardiff.

The scarves are all very similar to the one photographed, the differences are a result of the slightest variations in wool colour and weave. Perhaps the simplest way to think about this is as one long piece of cloth that has  tiny variations in it. So, unless you’d like to discuss these subtle differences, we’ll simply send you one of the scarves that we choose.

Care

Wash by hand in lukewarm water or spot clean an area by soaking in water with a small amount of detergent.

"We gave Llio quite an open brief because we really trusted her vision – we just knew that we wanted the scarf to be large, and to be made from 100% British wool. Each scarf is tactile, heavy, real; they feel and they smell of the country, of Wales and rain, maybe even the earth. Each one takes about a day and half to make; a day and a half of one person’s skilled work in a slow, careful, deeply skilled and considered way. There’s a lot of chatter in the clothing industry about 'heirloom pieces’ and mainly that’s just a lazy device; but these deserve the title in two ways. They employ heirloom skills to create masterpieces that with care will last for generations."
