Today I have some new ceramics to tell you about. We’re very pleased with this range.

It’s taken an unbelievably long time to get it off the ground. Making things in Britain is a slow process, but that’s okay if -as in this case- the finished product is excellent. And this is.

Slow and steady wins the race.

The range was designed by Caroline and Gail Bryson. We have been working with Gail for about 20 years, and among many other things, this is the fifth series of ceramics that she has designed for us.

Gail has designed for Heal’s, Conran, Pedlars and John Lewis, to name but a few. She is a print maker, artist, colour specialist and a consistently, quietly stylish person. We love and admire her in equal measure.

Caroline started her career as a designer of homewares and gifts at Laura Ashley in the mid 1980s, when that was a remarkable and world-renowned company. You may know that that generation of Laura Ashley employees (working directly with the esteemed founder) was a golden one, and that many of them have gone on to stellar careers in design.

Anyway, Caroline and Gail are friends, and they work really well together, mainly because they like each other. I tell you this to illustrate an important point; that behind these products are people, working enthusiastically, creatively, happily. That feels important.

That isn’t even to mention the excellent factory in Stoke-on-Trent whose employees specialise in fine bone china, and who know exactly how to make extraordinary products like these.

Sets of three in bright and confident colours.

Sophisticated, fine china, which is also robust and dishwasher safe. Quotidian but special too.
